Great Deer of Catalhoyuk: Ultra-Soft Premium Cotton T-Shirt
This design was inspired by a 7,700-year-old deer-hunting scene discovered at the neolithic site of Catalhoyuk (modern-day Konya, Turkey). Catalhoyuk is a large Neolithic town with a history of 9,400 years and home to approximately 8,000 people.
During the Neolithic period, the inhabitants of Catalhoyuk didn't live in places with streets or buildings with exterior doors. The city consisted of mud-brick houses built right up against each other. When outside, people walked across the flat rooftops. To get inside their own homes, they climbed down a wooden ladder through an opening in the ceiling. Imagine dim, windowless rooms, lit only by the light coming in from above and smelling of soot from the hearth. The walls were covered in a smooth white plaster. It was right on this white surface that artists drew the dynamism of wildlife.
