Refund policy

We stand behind every piece we sell. Every painting in our shop is restored one by one, much of the retouching done in Photoshop, and cropped separately for each size before it's offered, and every order is made just for you. If your order arrives damaged, defective or not what you ordered, we'll make it right with a free replacement or a full refund.

Made to order, so no change-of-mind returns

Because each item is made only after you order it, we can't accept returns or exchanges if you change your mind, or if you choose the wrong size, format, frame color, t-shirt size or t-shirt color. Before you order, please check the Size Guide on each artwork page, the size chart on each t-shirt page and, where available, the preview of the size you've chosen. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.

Damaged, defective or wrong items

Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If something isn't right, email us at info@archaeologyart.shop within 7 days of delivery with:

  • your order number;
  • clear photos of the problem, for example a tear, a dent, a cracked frame or glazing, a printing fault, or the wrong artwork, size or format;
  • photos of the packaging, including any damage to the box or tube;
  • if your order had more than one item, one photo showing all of the items together.

Please keep the item and its packaging until your case is closed. In most cases you won't need to send anything back. If we do need an item returned, we'll tell you how and cover the cost.

Once we've reviewed your photos, we'll send you a free replacement or a full refund for the affected item, including any shipping you paid for it. A replacement is made to order again, so it follows the production and shipping times in our Shipping Policy.

If you notice a problem after 7 days, please write to us anyway, and we'll look into it.

What isn't considered a defect

  • Different edges from one size to another. Each size is cropped separately to fit its proportions, so the edges of the painting differ from one size to another and from the full painting shown in the main photos. On Framed Art Prints and Matted Fine Art Prints, the frame or mat also covers a few millimeters around the edge of the image. The Size Guide and, where available, the size preview show what to expect.
  • Small color differences between your screen and the printed piece. Screens are backlit and vary in brightness and color settings, while prints are seen in reflected light.
  • Size differences of up to 1/8 in (3 mm) on canvases, which come from stretching the canvas over its frame.
  • Signs of age that belong to the original painting, such as fine cracks in the paint (craquelure) or uneven varnish. Our restoration repairs damage to the image but keeps the character of the original.
  • The natural texture of canvas and art paper, and features of the painting itself, such as visible brushwork.
  • A rolled Art Print that curls when you first unpack it. Laid flat for a day or two, it relaxes.

Cancellations and changes

Orders can go into production soon after they're placed, so we can't guarantee that an order can be cancelled or changed. If you need to cancel or change something, email us as soon as possible. If production hasn't started yet, we'll cancel your order and refund you in full, or make the change. Once production has begun, the order can't be cancelled.

Lost packages

If your order goes missing in transit, we'll reprint and resend it at no cost once the loss is confirmed. When to contact us, and the time limits, are in the "Delays, lost and missing packages" section of our Shipping Policy.

How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method, and we'll email you when we've sent yours. Your bank or card issuer may take 5–10 business days to show it on your statement. If you paid in a currency other than US dollars, the amount on your statement may differ slightly because of your bank's exchange rate.
